IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING POSTMARKS

We wanted to be sure that you are all aware of a USPS change that will take effect December 24, 2025.

Essentially, the date a donor places their gift in the mail will not necessarily be the postmark date.

To reliably substantiate a year-end charitable gift by mail going forward, donors will need to hand their envelope directly to a USPS employee and use one of the following services:

  • A Postage Validation Imprint (PVI) purchased at the counter
  • A manual (local) postmark applied by USPS staff
  • Certified Mail, Registered Mail, or a Certificate of Mailing

The articles below offer further guidance on the rules governing the timing of charitable gifts and the USPS change:

We get by with a lot of help from our friends. The LSO relies on charitable donations from generous individuals and local businesses to continue providing educational and musical experiences. Friends of the Lafayette Symphony are people and businesses who contribute to our Annual Fund. We count on our Friends to help us continue to present high quality concert experiences and educational programs and to keep our music affordable and accessible to everyone in our community. We provide several giving opportunities throughout the year like #GivingTuesday, but you can give at any time.

You can make a one-time or recurring gift by clicking the Donate button below.

If you are a business owner wanting to show your support of the LSO while promoting your brand, consider becoming a program book advertiser. Funds raised from ads go entirely to supporting the programs and services of the LSO, serving a 14-county region in West-Central Indiana through live concert experiences and education outreach. Our education programs serve an average of 5,000 students annually through in-school instruction and hands-on instrumental experiences at libraries, community centers, and childcare facilities. In 2018-2019, ads placed in the season program book were viewed by over 4,000 concert-goers and over 40,000 website visitors. You can view last year’s program book here.

Show your customers that you support the LSO’s contributions the quality of life in the Greater Lafayette area. For more information, contact Patron Experience Manager Farren Cook at farren@lafayettesymphony.org.
